Join us on this truly unique elephant expedition. Critically endangered Sumatran elephants live in the wild forests of Gunung Leuser National Park, adjacent to community land and swathes of palm oil plantations.

During this expedition we will be following the last remaining herds of elephants who live around Tangkahan. With support from local rangers who are dedicated to reducing human-elephant conflict in the Tangkahan area, we will track the herds through forest, buffer zone lands and within plantations. We will see first hand the impact deforestation is having on this species and how human-wildlife conflict is affecting local communities.

With the elephant herds always being on the move, in order to increase the chance of a sighting we have to stay in the area for two days.

Includes:

Local Jungle Guide – Off Road Jeep or Motorcycle with Driver – Food and Drink – Hammock – Binoculars/Telescope

Note: If you are a solo traveler and prefer not to pay for an extra person, we can assign you to another group upon request.
